My Nuts Were Loose

When I was a young fella we used to ride bikes everywhere.

In those days the really flash bikes had lights and they got their power from a dynamo that had a roller wheel rubbing against the side of the tire.

I picked up someones bike to have a race down a hill and noticed the dynamo was flopping around a bit.

It needed the nuts tightened, but I was so keen to have a race I decided not to do the 2 minute job of tightening the nuts.

I was in fact nuts not doing that, because after getting up to what was considerable speed on that old bike, the dynamo flopped into the spokes of the front wheel.

The wheel stopped instantly and I was launched over the handlebars.

I hit the road, tearing the skin off my knees and hands and smashed my watch.

The bike flew over my head and smashed further down the road.

My cousin who was racing me, turned to avoid the mess and hit the fence at the side of the road, buckling the wheel of his bike in the process.

As he flew over the fence he landed on the dog kennel that collapsed.

Luckily the dog wasn’t inside.

So all in all a big mess because I didn’t recognise the importance of NOW at that time.

Two tight nuts and we all would have been a lot better off.

I learnt a BIG lesson that day and have always been well aware of the importance of doing stuff asap to avoid the consequences of delay.

I have to admit that I’ve had a lot of bigger falls off my mountain bike over the years but none of them can be attributed to loose nuts.

The falls in the latter years have all been from pushing the limits which is how you get to achieve bigger things.

So don't put off today what you can do now and get out of the way

AND

Don't be scared to do something different.

Have a great day
Geoff

If you missed the link I sent for the training on how to get the most from the pre-made plots, most people have been picking it up and are really pleased with what will be a big help as we move into yet another year...
